k-play.

The municipality of Reyhanli, Turkey, in collaboration with the Karam Foundation, submitted a formal request for the creation of a community park, aimed at catering to the needs of both Syrian refugees and Turkish children. The proposed park design is centered around an inviting approach to the existing street infrastructure while offering a secure and welcoming environment. Notably, the utilization of modular joints allows for the convenient installation and removal of structures based on the evolving requirements of the park. The materials used are sustainably locally crafted and handled. The project was completed during my time at Offsh.

The plan was meticulously crafted with specific goals in mind: to create a welcoming space for both refugees and locals to freely interact and foster mutual understanding, integrate the surrounding greenery into the park's design, ensure a versatile and adaptable play structure layout that can be easily reconfigured, prioritize the use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials such as wood, incorporate multi-functional spaces tailored for hosting workshops and exhibitions, and ultimately, establish an inclusive environment that accommodates individuals of all ages.

module assembly

The concept behind the module assembly is to provide flexibility for adding or removing play structures based on the park users' requirements. The brief video showcases the construction and growth of a group of play structures and items, as visitors explore and engage with them.

play items connection

Play items and modules are thoughtfully designed to encourage children to engage with one another during playtime. Openings have been strategically placed to foster visual connections, while movable items like swings promote physical ones.

play zones expansion

In an effort to enhance visitors' experiences, the play zones within the park have been thoughtfully spread out across the entire park grounds. This deliberate dispersal ensures that the play areas are not clustered in one specific location. By doing so, visitors are encouraged to explore different sections of the park that they may not have discovered before.

The selection highlights the details of each component utilized in the park. It encompasses an array of items, from colorful wood accessories that seal joints to play elements, as well as a variety of beams and columns that contribute to the park's structural integrity, aesthetic appeal, and lasting functionality. The building process has been meticulously designed to facilitate on-site engineers' work and minimize the risk of miscommunication, considering the unique collaboration between the location of the project in Turkey and the design work carried out in Lebanon.
